2011: Year of the Expanding Palette
Let’s make 2011 the year of innovation. Ideas and policies that don’t work are out. Fusion of new ideas is in.
Many individuals who have been casualties from downsizing are pursuing passions they only dreamed of when they were shackled by corporate handcuffs. They are starting bakeries, catering companies, small professional firms, vintage clothing stores and restaurants. Each has an individual brand just like an original work of art. Instead of always buying expensive designer clothes, opt for a great vintage dress, like one that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Guys have the same opportunity with vintage hats and boots (my personal favorites.)
Rather than paying $100 a couple for dining out at an OK restaurant, you can explore sources for great ingredients for preparing a superior meal at home for about 40 percent of the price. Plus, no sales tax and no tip. We can help you with this solution at The Gallery On Glassell with our expanding gourmet department.
Plant a garden. Raise some of your own fruits, herbs and vegetables. I planted dwarf citrus trees on my patio two years ago. My Meyer Lemon tree yielded about 60 beautiful lemons that enhance everything from baked chicken, to my wife’s killer lemon bars to your favorite fish. My blood oranges are almost ripe. The Mexican limes are ready to use in cocktails, and my own version of fish tacos. Join us in supplementing your home-grown produce by shopping at local farmers’ markets.
Stay tuned for news of our growing gourmet department.
