An Evening in Paris

Hard to believe the year is halfway gone. It seems like only yesterday that we were putting away the Christmas decorations and making out that long list of resolutions for the new year. As you have probably noticed, one of ours was developing new themes for our special events. So, for July, to celebrate the contri-butions the French have made to our culture, we are initiating An Evening In Paris, Sat., July 10, just before Bastille Day.

Some of you may be asking yourselves, so why are Paris or the French in general, important to us here in California. It just so happens that many of the prominent wine making families learned their trade in France. They taught us so well in fact that California wines have prevailed in two blind tastings. If you haven’t seen Bottle Shock, rent it or buy it.

We also have many world-class chefs in California who have been heavily influenced by the French. Thomas Keller’s French Laundry in Yountville, Josiah Citrin’s Melisse in Santa Monica are two of the best restaurants in the world. Since most of you know we appreciate good food and wine here at The Gallery On Glassell, it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for you to imagine us getting behind a Paris themed event.

The real stars of the show are Marjorie Taylor, Andrea Gaye and Hyatt Moore: all who have created remarkable paintings that depict the architecture, neighbor-hoods and lifestyle of Paris. These images will transport you to Paris. We will introduce you to another Parisian art form, the fine chocolate of Michel Cluizel and a list of gourmet products that make French Cuisine great. You can sample them in the hors de oeuvres, French wine and champagne we will serve.

We hope you can join us.
